Let me let you in one something,
I DON'T recommend Keto (or ketogenic diets that aim at severe restriction of carbohydrates ) for anyone, especially those after Weight Loss Surgery (WLS)...
and there are reasons why you shouldn't drink the cool-aid after bariatric surgery...
It comes down to one simple point...
Restriction and deprivation lead to physical and mental starvation !
You adopt a restrictive eating style that excludes whole food groups, and then blame your cravings on being a 'food addict' .
Psychology is only part of the puzzle, but PHYSIOLOGY is crucial...
Cravings signal imbalance, dis-regulation, dysbiosis. They signal that your body 'needs' something, so you have to help it learn that it can get its energy from better sources, its fibre from fresher sources. You can teach it to be satisfied WITHOUT omitting vital nutrition.
Consider bariatric surgery vs your nutrition requirements....
If you try and follow a strict keto diet, you will be tipping the balance in favour of protein and fat and prohibiting yourself from the opportunity to get in everything you NEED!
Your capacity is limited, therefore if you fill up on one, there is no room for the other... you simply cannot intake the required amounts to make it sustainable... it is simple and rational mathematics. Anyone who tries to telly you differently has not done their research properly.
And you'll blame carbs... (when in reality it was your restriction of these that was the catalyst in the decline)
A proper style of eating removes that 'wagon'.
Encourages normalcy and being human.
Encourages balance and QUALITY over QUANTITY.
A proper diet (and diet here is "daily nutrition" not "method for weight loss") is one that incorporates ALL the food groups, does not advocate restriction or deprivation and makes you feel healthy and happy ALL OVER... that's HOLISTIC.
Balanced Macros... its how you should be eating after bariatric surgery
